Wine Tourism in the Côte-Rôtie
The land of prestigious crus
Spectacular! This is the word that best describes the steep hillsides of the Northern Rhone Valley. Since ancient times, vines have always been able to find their place, grasping onto steep slopes, or huddling onto small terraces carved out by man. From atop one of the viewpoints accessible by road, the landscape is breath-taking. As the Rhone flows onwards, the valley opens up, and the landscape becomes gentler. The vines spread out over the left bank of the river across the famous Hermitage hill, facing the imposing Tournon château. Further south, the medieval fortress of Crussol stands watch before giving way to Donzère, the gateway to Provence.
