Protecting and managing the Côte-Rôtie
Winemaker solidarity is not a new phenomenon. We know that a brotherhood of Côte-Rôtie winemakers existed as far back as 1678, under Louis XIV.
Winemaker solidarity is not a new phenomenon. We know that a brotherhood of Côte-Rôtie winemakers existed as far back as 1678, under Louis XIV.
The current union (renamed ODG Côte-Rôtie in 2010), was founded in 1953. It covers all of the winemakers that make Côte-Rôtie. Its aim is to protect this amazing terroir and to defend the grape varieties that grow there. The ODG Côte-Rôtie coordinates the promotion of the cru and holds, among other events, professional tastings, the Ampuis wine market, and events with its big brothers from the Côte-du-Rhône.
