In short

"The Domaine Guigal was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small village and cradle of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It is home to a unique vineyard whose vines and wines have been popular for 2400 years. Aged just 14 in 1924, the founder turned 67 harvests into Côte-Rôtie wines. In 1961, while still very young, Marcel Guigal took over management of the vineyard alongside his father, who had gone completely blind. In 1973 he was joined by his wife, Bernadette, and they worked together to further the family business. In 1975, their son, Philippe, was born, and he is now the vineyard's oenologist. Together with his wife, Eve, he forms the third generation of winemakers, and continues the family profession serving the great wines of the Rhone Valley.

In the Maison Guigal's wine cellar in Ampuis, they make and mature wine from the Rhone Valley's northern appellations: Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. The great southern appellations of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and Côtes-du-Rhône are also matured in the Ampuis cellars.
